Can I use the same cd that I used to install Windows XP on my MacBook Pro to install it on my new iMac, or do I have to buy the OS again?

Probably I'll have to buy it again, but I want to be absolutely sure.

You're right, you'll need a valid license for your new iMac which means purchasing another copy. Let me suggest purchasing a generic OEM copy from a web reseller. I found a full install copy of XP SP2 from a web reseller for $60.00. I'm sure you can find a copy for the same price or even less expensive.

BTW, you can also find a generic OEM copy of Vista Home Premium on the web for around $80 - $90. Since you have an iMac with dedicated graphics, you might consider installing Vista instead of XP.

Regards.

Not all. Just use the same copy.
Doing this would be illegal... You only have one xp license, so xp can only be installed on one computer...
You need to buy another license which means buying a new disk...
