Since you look like you own an iMac, a cleaning cloth should have come with it. The Manual, which you can download from Apple's site, says to dampen that cloth with water, and that's all. If you don't have that cloth, a soft, micro-fiber cloth dampened with water will be fine.

I believe that it also says to remove all cables first, however that I do not remember for sure. Do REMOVE the power cord though.

Not any more. It's no longer included in the box.

Whoops.....Didn't even look at the stuff I got with the iMac I just bought. Just read the NEW Manual.....use a damp, lint-free cloth with ALL CORDS REMOVED. Do not spray anything directly on the screen.

Remember when they used to supply those huge tomes with all new p.c.'s ?:|

I remember my Commodore VIC-20 came with several books - probably 500+ pages total. One book was the user manual, another was the BASIC programming guide. Then there were a couple additional books that I never used much.

Do not use windex!

Use something like iKlear Apple Polish and a microfiber towel, unless you want to take the chance on damaging the finish on your iMac

Don't use any chemicals. Stick to water and lint free soft cloth. Water is all you need. Microfiber clothes are good but don't press/rub too hard in one place.
