I have a mid-'07, pre-Santa Rosa white MacBook, and my battery barely holds a charge. I'm in need of a new one, but don't want to spend $130 for one from Apple. Can I find a good one, cheaper, somewhere else?

Thanks, OWC seems to be the place to go.

Just upgraded my memory from there last week.

Just bought one of the NewerTech for my '06 MBP. Initial battery life is better than either of the 2 Apple batteries I've already gone through.

Need to look at battery pricing a little different also. A mid '07... That's what, at least 42 months for $130 or $3.09 a month to power your notebook. Pretty darn cheap. If the NewerTech battery lasts you only 36 months at $100, your down to $2.78 a month.

Yep, I can't say I've been unhappy with my battery, its worked as I expected it too, and overall treated me just fine. I simply need a new one after normal wear and tear, that's all. At the same time, I'll make sure I'm getting a good deal.

Although, after spending $75 on new memory, and $40 on a new mouse, in the past week, I think I may have to wait a bit.

I bought my battery at the Apple store from the genius bar and it was 99.99 dollars. Compared to the 130 dollar ones on the self.

iFixit.com has some nice hardware parts that are cheaper than ones in Apple.

Aww, that sucks. I've always liked to get hardware parts from iFixit, though, that's why I mentioned it. Thanks for informing us!

The difference in buying your battery as a service part from the Genius Bar and buying a retail battery off the shelf is warranty. Your retail purchased battery has a 1 year warranty, while the battery from the Genius Bar has a 90 day parts warranty. If that's not an issue to you, fine, but just wanted folks to be aware.
