Hello,

I recently downloaded and installed iskysoft / itube and then I decided I didnt want it and I moved all the files I could find to trash to delete/uninstall and then emptied the trash.

Problem is, it still appears to have traces on my macbook pro (which I cant find anywhere in finder) because when Im on youtube it comes up with "Download" on any youtube video.

How do I get rid of this program altogether?

Thank you

I would suggest you look again - Applications - iSkysoft folder - Remove iSkysoft...

It's possible that there is still a plugin file in your plugins folder. Is there an iSkysoft plugin file in Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins or /Users/<your username>/Library/Internet Plug-Ins? I'm not sure what that would be called but it is likely obvious once you see it. To test (if you're unsure), move the suspected plugin to the desktop and then restart your browser to test.

If all that fails, try getting Appzapper, install it, then reinstall iSkysoft and drag it to the trash again. Appzapper should move all it's associated files with it. Empty trash and you should be free of it.

There is definitely an uninstaller included with their package. It takes approx 1 minute to download, install and uninstall. It took me a little longer since I needed to do another SD! backup before I put that junk on my machine (just in case).

bobtomay - you are entirely right.

Mistake I was making was not downloading the full version and therefore wasnt coming with the uninstaller.

Anyone who comes stuck on this, make sure you download the full itube version (its currently 13.5mb (not the 8mb isky one)) and search through all its folders for the uninstaller.

Thanks for your help all.

Try google - 1st hit.

Sorry, but not really interested in having links to that spammer site listed here.

Yep... and I would say that if you've given them your credit card number, be sure to keep an eye on your account. That company is shady to say the least.

For anyone else looking here, if you have already dragged one of their apps to the trash, you need to head for their site, re-download the app, re-install it, and then follow post #4.

And I would suspect that any of the other xyzbrndsoft software will be the same.

eliminating iskysoft download button

Thank you, bobtomay, I re-installed iSkysoft video downloader, and then followed your advice in post # 4 - looked in Applications - iSkysoft folder - and found Remove iSkysoft... clicked Remove iSkysoft and after restarting (maybe wasn't necessary?) and re-opening Safari - voilà - the pesky download button no longer appears! Mille mercis!

How to get it off google chrome

Alrighty,

I had the pleasure of downloading this horrible software and went through heck trying to get it off my computer.

When I used google chrome with gmail... a very annoying "Download" icon from iskysoft would pop up. Effectively driving me insane.

After scoping this thread and trying everything, I actually found the simplest solution, and can't believe it took me so long to figure out.

Just go into google chrome extensions and delete the one associated with iSkysoft.

Enjoy!

iskysoft

i downloaded the free version and was impressed and decided to buy it. However after paying for the software it all went wrong. Wouldn't delete, wouldn't work, contacted them after 2 days, have tried everything, all their instructions, wasted a lot of peoples time, now they say after 30 days i can have no refund.

downloaded for free firefox and then 1-click you tube video downloader 2.1.5.

open you tube and "download" pops up, you choose how you want to download, like mp4 and off it goes. i have many happy hours of downloads.

i am computer unfriendly, but have carried out all the delete/uninstall instructions to the letter, with iskysoft, as have others, and failed.

this is the last time i buy software off the internet!!!!!

While it is true that there are just a whole bunch of primarily Chinese ripoff software & spammer companies out there (all seeming to use a name of xyzSOFT) that should probably not be installed on your computers, a better rule of thumb would be to do some research &/or check in with a forum (this one or another) where you can ask about the validity and veracity of a particular software prior to purchase.

Sometimes research isn't enough because some despicable companies (cough MacKeeper cough) put up literally hundreds of their own fake review/blog sites all over the web.

Hey, sorry for reviving this old thread, but I'm getting the same error with the full iskysoft tunesover app, doesn't come with an unistaller and can't zap it fully.

Any ideas?

Thank you
