So, I updated the software, and synced it a few times, and I think it was working fine before, but now the home button doesn't work.

When the phone is in standby, and I push the home button, the ipod play/pause thing comes up.

Also, I can't hold down the top button to turn off the iphone anyone.

Anyone have any suggestions? I will be going to the apple store tomorrow unless anyone has any quick fixes.

Thanks :)

Oh, I held down the home button and the top button, so now my screen is permanently white.

I have heard of people letting the battery die, when it doesnt do anything evne when plugged into computer, anyway, after the battery dies they turn it on and everything is back to normal.

Try putting it into DFU mode, and restoring the device.

Could you explain that more? I don't know how to put it in DFU mode (or what that is exactly)

And restore, restore via itunes?

Hello, I'm having the exact same problem right now. Well, I already had it yesterday as well and it started working again after running out of battery. So my problem is that this keeps happening, and I wonder if you know how to prevent it?

Thanks :)

To get into DFU mode;

Hold Home + Power for 10 seconds EXACTLY
Let go of Power; continue to hold Home for 10 seconds
If you iPhone is plugged in, iTunes should detect it in recovery mode.

Go ahead and do a normal restore.

The same thing has happened to my phone about 3 times this month alone.
