Hey guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my MBP from 2gb ram to 4gb. I've been checking out the support section of the apple site and crucial.com to figure out what memory is compatible with my mbp but I'm a little confused. First of all, my mbp looks likes this: http://blog.nakedcellist.org/files/apple-mac-book-pro-2008-edition.jpg. The processor is 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo. On crucial, I've narrowed it down to the 2.4 ghz 15.4 inch and the 2.4 ghz 15 inch ddr3 but am not sure which model I have: Top Models for Ram and Flash.

MacBook Pro: How to remove or install memory This is Apple's rundown of changing memory for the MBP but I'm still not quite sure which model I have. Also, any suggestions on what I should buy for memory? Thanks a lot guys. If you need any clarification on specs for my mbp let me know.

Welcome to Mac-Forums
Download this nifty little app called mactracker available for free here: http://mactracker.ca
Install then open, then click on "This Mac", it will tell you your model number in there, along with alot of other useful information.

You can't use DDR3 ram.
You need DDR2 PC5300.

Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Memory for Apple Model 976559A
That is exactly what you need.

And if you are unsure just go to crucial.com and hit scan my system, it will tell you exactly what you need. The link above is what you need, just cheaper.
