How can we determine total size of all files in a disk image folder in a mac

other than highlighting them all, right click, "get info", with an individual window open for each file, detailing size etc, then having to add up all the sizes using a calculator, this is a bit time consuming, when l just want total size of all the files

Are you talking about a .dmg file? Won't the size of the .dmg do?

Assuming that looking at the size of the dmg won't do the job for you theres a better way. It should work anywhere in Finder where you can select several files.

1, Select a series of file. I think it will handle as many as you want.
2. Press command, option I simultaneously.

This will open one window that shows the total number of files and space used.

That's exactly what I've been looking for. Many's the time I want to know whether a bunch of files will "fit in" to the available space left on a USB for example and, like the OP, had to calculate them separately.

You might want to try that. I think that will have some unexpected results.

I do command A to select all the files then command, option, then I. No unexpected results for me.

That would be because I misread Slydude's tip. That shows me for trying to catch Sly making a mistake.

I missed the fact that you had the option key as part of your combination.
