I just bought a WD 500 GB External HD, and when I plug it in, it is reading the following message.

"NTFS-3G"
NTFS-3G could not mount /dev/disk1s1 at /Volumes/Elements because the following problem occurred:

/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/fusefs.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) link error; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). the MacFUSE fule system is not available (71)"

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. I'm not any sort of computer expert and just want the HD to work.

Thanks!
Patrick

Did you at one time or another install NTFS 3G? Because it appears it's trying to read the WD drive which is probably formatted to NTFS. If you had NTFS 3G installed and then just moved it to the trash, that does not uninstall it.

Thank you! This worked and everything is going well.
