I am working on a Mac OS X 10.5.6. I am trying to make movies from video clips recorded with the Flip Mino HD video camcorder, and it took a lot less time (hours to days) to import the clips with iMovie rather than with the Flip video editing software. However, now the videos play very choppily and slowly on iMovie HD, and they take up a lot of memory on the computer.
Does iMovie downresolve for editing purposes? If so, will it restore resolution and play with better quality once I export it? Is there a way to compress the videos to make playback smoother, improve storage space, AND retain most of the original video quality? What are my different options with respect to balancing these aspects of video data management?
I am new to using this software, and would appreciate any advice on how to improve quality/speed of my movie the way I've been approaching it or else advice on what other methods would work better for me. Thank you!
