Manual fan control utility?

Does anyone know of a manual fan control utility out there someplace? Id like to have better control of my cooling...

Now that you've found one, don't use it.

Seriously.

If you under-cool your Mac, you will do nothing but burn up your components and kill your hardware. If you over-cool your mac, you will do nothing but wear out your fans and (eventually) kill your hardware, and, meanwhile, lower your battery life.

Apple's engineers are better at this than you. Really. The default settings are the best ones for your hardware and warranty.

Actually Im turning them up a little. The default setting is 2000rpm and Im running them at 3000 rpm. Do you really think that will burn them out early?

You are simply placing undue wear on your fans. They are thermostatically controlled and require no user-intervention. I too would recommend that you just leave them alone. Fans have a definite MTBF (mean time before failure). The more you use them, the quicker they will eventually fail.

Ditto. Apple sets up the fans to yield the best performance/longest life.

I got smc fan control, because my MBP while ripping DVD's was heating up to +80 C and the fans were only going at 3200 rpm, and the case felt like you could cook an egg on it, got SMC and turned up the fans to 4300 rpm and it brought the temp down to ~72 C. I have no problems with the controller.
