HTTP.system (com.plexapp.agents.localmedia) - ***?

My Trash folder has suddenly started filling with folders called [HTTP.system (com.plexapp.agents.localmedia)] which contain a number of empty files.

What are these, where do they come from and how can I stop them?

OK, I checked out the thread: "Ah... plexapp - it's a plugin to share media across multiple devices, computers, mobile devices, etc. Try uninstalling it, at least temporarily, and see if the file either disappears or can be deleted."

Only problem, I've no idea what plexapp is and, more to the point, can't find it to uninstall it. Spotlight can't find any trace of it, at least not under that name.

Some more explicit information would be gratefully received...

Have you ever installed Plex? If so, it's possible that it can't be deleted if it's still running. Check the menubar - it has a menulet (icon in the menu bar) feature.

Aha! indeed. Thank you very much indeed, sir. Identified from the menu bar, tracked down and destroyed.
