A colleague of mine is giving away his son's old early 2001 iMac and I'm hoping to give it to my 4-yr old daughter to play with. The main thing I need to get going is a WiFi connection on here since I'm entirely wireless in my house, what are my options?
What OS is it running? USB WiFi dongles that work with OS X are hard to find. Keep that in mind if the iMac is running OS 9.1 or earlier. There was an optional airport card for the 2001 iMac (certain models) if you can find one. I believe the card is only capable of 802.11b which means slower speeds and WEP only.
Maybe some of our older "Mac Machine" guys can chime in here with some better suggestions.
Turns out it's running some ancient version of Mac OS and would end up costing me money to either upgrade the OS, memory and get something to get WiFi going so I'm going to pass on that..
