I can't figure out whats going on with my computer? I have a g5. The other day when I turned my computer on under my HD icon was re-named (Hopp'oi'oli).I changed the name back to Macintosh HD and ran a systems check (ok)Then when I turned my computer off now a grey screen with a box and a world symbol flashing shows up. Then have to press the control and the apple key for appox.15sec. then I get a folder symbol with a finder symbol and it flashes back and forth to the finder symbol for a few sec. then every thing comes back to norm. PLEASE HELP! I'm a new Mac user and I have'nt got a clue!

did your G5 come with the tiger installation cd? looks like you have to reinstall tiger... sucks for you.

Back up all of your files to cd, dvd, or external and boot from the first tiger cd by holding down the c button when you turn on the power, and install from there.

Reinstalling tiger may be a good idea.
