yea i actually installed my XP with my DELL INSTALL DISC. when it needed a CD key i just called Microsoft adn gave them my key and the Ref # that windows put up and he gave me a new key. SO you CAN intall with a factory backup disc. But...as far as WIN UPDATES, you NEED SP2 to install it.

    i used nlite

it made a iso file that was 997mb therefore i used a dvd for the slipstreaming

i had the bugger it didnt work 1st go but after trying again worked fine

to find nlite do a google search for it its too easy with that program

my imac now runs both osx and winxp no problems at all :yinyang:

Just want to chime in - don't try this without SP2. I had to re-install OSX after I made this mistake. If you can figure out how to slipstream a disk, as mentioned here, that will work, but don't even think about putting your non-SP2 disk in your iMac drive unless you want to lose everything! Whatever you do, I highly recommend imaging your system before starting.

    Problems Slipstreaming
Warden, I have made several slipstreamed cd's containing the sp1 and sp2 update. They work fine on a pc, but osx will not recognize the XP operating system on the cd. My mac sees it as a blank rewritable cd, not a bootable disc. I was sure to close the disc when I burned it also. I have made at least 4 coasters with no success. Any suggestions?
