Can this be installed in a mac book? Why did I keep seeing this as an option for Windows 10 or did I misunderstand anything?

To determine whether this can be installed on a Mac we need to know the specific Mac involved. What Mac and what are the specs?

Several of my Windows using friends have installed it on their Windows boxes and experienced issues either during the install process or during one of the updates. I'll probably be waiting a while before installing it.

You may be better off installing Windows 7 or 8.1 via BootCamp or Parallels and upgrading when 10 becomes a little more stable. Suggest first updating your Yosemite to OS X.10.5. There were several security and network updates.

Also.... it has been reported that Windows 10 has a problem with the Boot Camp graphic drivers that worked OK with Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. You might want to wait until Apple updates Boot Camp.

Thanks. The point is why people want to install Windows 10? I guess Safari is more secured and stable than Windows in general?

Safari is a browser, Windows 10 is an operating system. What do they have to do with each other? If you mean OS X Yosemite is more secure than Windows 10, that makes sense.

And Apple makes Safari in a Windows flavor! Many PC users run it as their browser of choice.

Yeah, that is what I meant, OS X Yosemite vs Windows. I don't think Windows can ever perform better in a Mac than its own OS?

Actually, Windows performs real well on a Mac provided it's run as a dual boot using the Boot Camp method. I've run Windows 7 on an iMac and it ran very well. And previously, I ran XP on a 2008 MacBook and it performed better than XP on my Toshiba notebook. ;)

I'm not sure you can do things better that way, the point is that Windows will run on a Mac as well as or better than on some PCs. I personally no longer have a need to run Windows for anything and converted all our business needs to OS X.

My bottom-line question is why bother installing two operating systems in the device and you have made a good point re conversion. So do you know, with Windows installed, I can run my Windows macros created in Excel that cannot be run under OS X? It will be a great pain if I have to re-learn all macro skills needed for OS X.

Yes you can. As long as you have Windows Office installed (or a subscription to Office 365) you can run all your Excel macros just as before. As far as re-learning your macro skills, VBA works much in the same way in Mac Office as it does in Windows Office. There are some differences of course but it won't take you long to convert your Excel macros to work with Mac Office Excel.

No specific reference but here is what Macworld said:

Microsoft’s Excel 2011 team has also worked to make Mac macros compatible with those written for Excel for Windows. According to Microsoft, Excel 2011 for Mac features a full port of the Windows Office VBA environment; in most cases, the OS X and Windows versions of VBA now mirror each other. This includes updating the core VBA engine in Office 2011 to VBA version 6.5, and adding some commands (FormatCurrency, FormatNumber, Replace) that had been disabled in Excel 2004 for the Mac. When there were object-model differences between the Windows and OS X versions, Microsoft says it conformed the Mac version to Office 2010. (Macworld hasn’t had the opportunity to fully test that Windows-compatibility yet.)

Like I stated before, you need to tune up your VBA skills, however, most of your macros should only need minor work and to be recompiled.

My macros are complex and I don't think I can do a command-for-command conversion. I need to dig in deeper in this area.

When you run Windows from your Mac whether it's as a dual boot (Boot Camp) or from a virtual machine (Parallels, Fusion, etc), it's subject to the same viruses and dangers that come with running Windows on a PC. Your Mac can not be infected, however, Windows can.
