Transferring Windows 7 Validation legally

Mine is just a simple question...

My old PC runs a fully activated retail copy of Windows 7 Professional.
I've recently bought an iMac and through Boot Camp have also installed my retail copy of Windows 7. (not yet activated it though...)

Once I have safely transferred all of my critical Windows data from my old PC to my new iMac I intend to activate my retail copy Windows 7 which is now on my iMac.

After successfully transferring all of my Windows data to my new iMac I intend to uninstall Windows 7 from my old PC before re-installing my old retail copy of Windows XP back onto my old PC to enable me to be able sell the old PC..

How do I transfer the "activation" of my retail copy of Windows 7 from my old PC to my new iMac ?
Do I have to contact Microsoft first or just go ahead and activate Windows 7 on my iMac...

Both copies of Windows, 7 and XP, or Full Retail Legal Disks..

It should be just a matter of activating Windows 7 on the new installation, which will eventually de-activate the old install. In this case, since you're going to be formatting the system and installing a different OS, you'll never run into issues, although you may be "challenged" by product activation on the new install to enter your product ID at least once.

That is one of the nice things about buying retail copies. The licenses are not tied to any hardware at all and you are free to port between different machines.

I previously built my own PC's hence the reason for buying Retail Copies of all of my Windows O/S's..
Wouldn't bother with OEM stuff, just not worth the restrictions...

Anyway, thanks for your advice, I've gone ahead and re-activated Win7 on the Mac and Win XP on the PC.
