Back in the day free CDs came attached to Mac magazines that had all theses games and shareware on them.. You need to check out the local thrift store. I know where a giant stack of them are right now. Do a google search..games for Mac OS9.

Not so weird to us that have done it.;)

- thrift stores
- pawn shops
- e-Bay
- garage sales
- auctions
- estate sales
- Craig's List
- found in the garbage
- found on the curb
- etc.

All valid ways to acquire a used Macintosh computer!:)

Ahh...that's nice!:) Apparently you bought this computer with software already on it. Since games for OS 9 are harder & harder to find...if you like the games you have...make sure you back them up just in case the computer "craps out"!

I'll also warn you that some older games had "weird" copy protection schemes...so all of those games (depending of they were shareware/freeware or actual retail games)...may not run...or may not be "backupable".

You should buy an old copy of Diablo or Diablo 2. This was originally written for OS 9...and was definitely one of my favorite games at the time.:)

Yeah. Kinda weird. It has Pac-Man on here. But the app opens, then freezes on the title screen. No "start" button.. no Loading symbol, Enter and Space didn't do anything either... Hmmm.... OS 9 just confuses the crap outta me.

That's part of the instability I mentioned for OS 9 earlier in this thread.

Basically that "Pac-Mac" game may or may not have been written to work with OS 9...or was written before OS 9. Also, one of the BIG things with OS 9 was lots & lots of "Control Panel" & "Extension" conflicts.

Some programs install a control panel or extension into the System Folder..on top of the Control Panels & Extensions already there. So conflicts occur...and then the system crashes.

OS 9 is actually much easier to understand (IMHO) than OS X. Back with OS 5 & OS 6...when the whole OS fit on a 400k floppy disk..the "System & Finder" programs were a single file each. If you deleted those two files (just two individual files)...and your OS was completely gone.

You need to find a copy of Conflict Catcher 8,stops crashes and freezes. Open up the memory control panel and make sure virtual memory is On.
