Mail or Entourage

From being a recent switcher to Mac in Feb, I became quite use to the Outlook 2003 look and feel, so naturally when I went to the Mac I got Entourage and stated using that as my mail client. It does seem like a "nicer" loooking version of 2003, but for some reason the program runs dramatically slower then most other programs I used on my mac.

I was wondering how many people use Mail and how many people use Entourage. If you could please post why you choose either of the programs.

Mail because I don't need all of the extra functionality of entourage (Calendar, to do's, address book) when I have iCal and Address book which work great for me. Mail's junk protection is excellent and it runs quicker than entourage

I use Entourage because I like having my mail, address book, calendar, notes, to do's views etc all in one program, instead of having a whole bunch of applications open at one time. I am thinking about trying out mail again once I upgrade to Tiger, but that won't be until 10.4.1 or .2, The only reason why I am thinking of possibly changing is because so many of my apps integrate with Apple mail, Address Book, iCal etc and it would be nice to get that functionality.. even though it would be great if MS made a nice sync script, that way I could continue using Entourage and have everything synced with the other programs.

I don't know if it's me being a mod, but I see in the top right corner of the poll. An edit poll option. itloser, is that in your view?

Yeah, I don't see anything up there as an edit button. Most likely mod rights, thanks for adjusting for me.

I'll be getting my new iMac G5 in the coming days and I've read just about every article from Apple on the individual software programs, including iCal, Mail, etc. My dad has a copy of Office 2004 S&T Ed and it's good for 4-5 installs. Entourage looks pretty appealing and I'll probably use it unless the Tiger apps are so good that there's a glaring difference. I'm running a home-based business and I want some software that's designed for this purpose.

If there's anyone out ther in Mac-Forums land that really likes Entourage, I'd like to hear more stories.

Mail, because it's faster... Also the search function in mail is much easier. And besides, I usually try to avoid Microsoft products as a general rule.

The only thing that irritated me about using iCal instead of the entourage calander was the inability to print To Dos in a list form... But I found an applescript that converts the list into an omnioutline which I can print from there.

I voted "none," but I really use Eudora. The level of customization is unmatched; every concievable aspect can be altered, either through preferences or x-eudora-settings. Mail seems juvenile by comparison, and Entourage too cluttered with its calendar features.

none. I http to my mail to keep it all accessible anywhere anytime. I like being able to see all my old mail, new mail, etc wherever I am.

What kind of info would you like to know about Entourage? The only thing so far that I do not like about it is the difficulty in finding what you need.. the search bites compared to Mail. Other than that I really like all the functionality it has and all in one application, not spread out to 20 different applications (exaggeration) :)
