mrirish,

I would re-install Windows. Use the Boot Camp Assistant to delete the Windows partition and try it again by doing the following... go to Applications>Utilities>Boot Camp Assistant.app and open it. The cover page has a button, select it and print the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide and read it... You don't need to print it, just click on it, it will open up in Preview and you can go through it.

Follow it closely in all regards and you'll have a successful installation of Windows and it shouldn't be checking every time you open it up...

Good Luck, Noel

One correction. It's not scanning your HD because Windows did not boot up correctly, it's scanning because it's not shutting down correctly. You need to determine what files are being left open or which application is not terminating properly. If Windows shuts down "dirty", it'll run an automatic chkdsk on the next boot.

Regards.

Just open Boot Camp Assistant > Continue > Create or Remove a Windows partition > Restore, then close. Reopen Boot Camp Assistant > choose 'Install Windows' or something like that > Use 32 GB or Drive Equally 'as you like' > install Windows XP or Vista 'ask you like'. Wait for the installation to finish, automatically reboot and install, then insert your Macintosh OSX CD 1, Boot camp should automatically open a few seconds after you insert your Macintosh OSX CD 1 so it would install all the necessary Apple drivers for you, oh and also don't forget, SAFELY shut down Windows and choose Macintosh HD as your main boot up disk.

It's simple and you already know that, but it's going to help you.

would it have anything to do with me accessing my windows files when I am booted up in OS X? I was told I can do that, but I feel everytime I do that windows scans on start-up.

Is your Windows Boot Camp partition formatted to NTFS and are you using a third party utility to read\write to the partition? Sometimes that will cause file errors. Less likely to happen when the BC partition is formatted as FAT-32.

But the most likely cause for your Windows partition being "dirty" is that files are being left open or Windows is not shutting down properly when you reboot or boot back to OS X.

My Windows partition / volume is formatted as NTFS, I'm using a 3rd party software "13-days evaluation left lol" to not only read but also write files to the volume. I'm nowadays looking for a similar program that is a freeware, no need to purchase 'n stuff.

Hi Tarek:

OK, I think we've narrowed down the problem now. Whenever you write to the NTFS partition it leaves it "dirty". Windows will always try to run chkdsk when it sees a dirty partition.

As far as free software to access your NTFS partition from Windows, try NTFS 3G. http://www.ntfs-3g.org/ Be sure to follow instructions and also install additional file support as recommended.

Don't forget to completely remove the Paragon free trial software before you do.

Regards.

Hi chscag,

Thank you very much for helping me, I really needed a free software to do all that.

*going to remove Paragon*.
