This may seem like a stupid question, but I want to burn some video's to a DVD in Vista, and when I do it through Windows Explorer it seems to work on the computer that burned them, but not on anything else... The method I'm using worked fine on xp, does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

I'm assuming you're using the built in DVD burning capability of Vista rather than third party software such as Nero or Roxio.

What kind of media are you using? If it's a DVD+RW, it's probably not going to work on another machine. Also, since Vista can burn to DVD (XP can not without third party software) does Vista finalize the DVD so it can be viewed on other machines?

Regards.

It also depends on what format the video is in and whether or not the device you are trying to play them on has that capability. e.g. most DVD players/Game Consoles will play MPEG2 video types but not AVI. You may find that you need to convert them into a compatible format.

You don't say which version of Vista you have. If it's Home Premium or Ultimate you'll have DVD Maker installed ...... that'll do it
