when I play movies where there are fast scenes on my powerbook G4 there is some sort of line (invisible) that splits the screen. Is this normal?

It certainly doesn't sound normal. Check Nvidia or ATI's website (not sure what video card you have) and see if they have an updated driver available for download and install.

What version of the OS are you running? I remember one of the older Apple DVD player had problems.

Try the VLC media player and see if you still have the problem. It maybe a problem with the DVD player application.

Which DVD are having problems with?
