Recently changed my Late 2008 15in MBP's keyboard since a few keys weren't working. The arrow keys are fine now but the problem mostly persists.

The whole top row of function keys, besides the volume controls, doesn't work. And the diagonal row containing 9, O, L, period(.), along with the right shift and "\" keys do not work.

I've tried the keyboard shortcuts checkbox thing in system preferences but didn't fix the issue with the function keys. Tried searching for software update since I'm running OS X 10.7.5, didn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated!

Any liquid spills on your 2008 MacBook Pro? Because this usually occurs from a past spill on the original keyboard. Liquid leaks down thru the keyboard on to the logic board below, and over time causes corrosion. Check the keyboard connector on the logic board.
