Flash Player 13 is now available. Don't upgrade yet, it is problematic.

If you have already upgraded, and you are experiencing problems with Flash content, you can downgrade to version 12.0.0.77 by uninstalling the copy of Flash that you have installed with this uninstaller (Adobe recommends doing this first):
<http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg>
or
http://is.gd/lrnKUG

And then you can download and install the earlier version from:

Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe downloads /install_flash_player_12_osx.dmg

Here is the story directly from Adobe. They're working on a fix for release this coming week.

You left out a key piece of information: this problem only affects Macs made in 2006 and 2007 (I discovered this by reading the last link you included).

My late 2006 when loading a You Tube video sat there with a black screen after the update. One part of the article says 2006-2008 and the end says 2006-2007.

That would be real nice, if you're buying.

No, I've spoken to a significant number of folks having problems, and the problem doesn't seem at all that limited.

Adobe updated the post to say 2006-2007. What they likely meant to say was any Intel Mac that does not support 64-bit software. It's likely that the problem also affects Macs that are capable of 64-bit but are booted into a 32-bit kernel which Snow Leopard and Lion support for those with software that needs it. Mt. Lion and Mavericks are 64-bit only.

On the other hand, I've also heard from a few users who say that they can't install the latest version of Flash even though they are running Mavericks.

It shouldn't be a hardship for folks to just wait a few days until Adobe gets things sorted out.

A new iteration of Flash Player version 13 was released today (version 13.0.0.201).

I haven't heard from anyone yet as to whether it fixes all the problems folks have been experiencing.

The new version (13.0.0.201) seems to be OK. I wasn't having problems with the previous version either but my machine is fairly new running Mavericks 10.9.2.

Same here. MBA running 10.9.2 and latest Flash without issue (knock on wood) though some might say that Flash is an issue in and of itself! ;)

I will get it and test it on my late 2006 iMac. Will report back as this machine was affected for sure.

I believe Randy was correct on the 32-Bit boot part. Those are the machines that seem to have the issue.

To the person that said new hardware is in order. I agree, you buying? I barely make it every month with my special doctor ordered diet and bills and do not have $1000+ for a new iMac. :D

New flash installed and no more issues. They fixed it for sure.
