I've lately kept my apps, in my Lace external HD. ..and now it won't even appear on desktop when I try to boot it up. Appreciate the replies, I have to hit the sack. can try more corresponds 2morrow..

Do you have a backup of your system when it was working okay?.
If so, do a restore of that backup. It'll take a while but worth a go (after you've tried everything else of course).

Sounds more like the external drive may have gone south.

Any apps that are on your dock and stored on the external will have question marks if it's not able to find them.

Try shutting down - unplug the external - start back up - plug in the external.

I agree. If the drive has died, OS X no longer knows about the existence of those applications which would explain the question marks.

Why are you keeping applications on an external hard drive?
