Idvd question

Powermac g4 400mhz, 10gb, 256mb ram, OS9
One of my macs doesn't have a DVD burner built in. If i was to get an external burner, would it be compatable with imovie/idvd? It is a pioneer drive in an OWC case.

Also, would apple DVD player work with this drive?

It would work but you can't install iDVD without having a superdrive

I am using iDVD 4 with an external DVD burner. I am using a hack, but I have read that PatchBurn is better.

thanks., does this patch work under X.1-x.3 or do i need 10.4?

I appears that version 4 is for 10.4. There is a version 3, that runs on 10.3. Look at the link and check the drop down menu on the page.
