When I was in high school for one of my birthday presents i received a Macbook my junior year. Now I'm in college and need to get with the updates, but have the broke college student status. My father said he would take it a local mac store and get what i need. Can anyone help me out with what they would do in this situation? please don't say just get another computer b/c i don't have the bank account to do it.

Welcome to the Forum - first thing you have to do is give more info, what OS are you on currently - when asking on forums more info is better than too little.

Hum what are you going to be doing in college that makes your current MB obsolete?

I'm running Max OS X. Well I was installing my Blackberry disc and it said I needed to have a newer operating system, so I guess i decided it was about time.

Ok OS X comes in a number of flavors Jaguar 10.2, Panther 10.3, Tiger 10.4, Leopard 10.5 and Snow leopard 10.6 - so u see you need to be more specific.

You could always sell your MB and use that money to fund your new Mac.

They recently dropped the Unibody MBs down to $899 USD for students. >_>" Tempting if you are on a budget.

Buying a retail copy of Snow Leopard is also an option.

My bad guys I have tiger. Yeah the whole new computer thing isn't an option I already tried it. Would rather spend that money on other things you know.

Why not just upgrade your system to Snow Leopard instead of looking at a new computer?

Am using my 3 year old Mac and it is still running as good as, if not better than, the day I brought it home.
