MBP HDD in a Macbook?

Hi

Not sure where to search to have this question answered, but here goes.

I'll probably purchase a 13" mbp tomorrow, with the 160gb HDD. I have a 2008 macbook which currently has a 500gb HDD.

Can I just swap the two hard drives without any problems? I'm guessing I'll have to re-install on both, but i'm not too worried about that

I Just want to make sure that hardware-wise it's possible

I believe if the computers are contemporary, then there shouldn't be a problem.

I suspect that you're right about having to re-instal OSX on each though due to the hardware in each being different.

Give it a shot though and see if it boots up. If it were me, I WOULD install a fresh copy.

iFixit are a good guide if you're not sure what to do, if you are, then 'fill your boots'.

I believe you will have to reinstall OS X. The drivers uses by each machine will be different. Reinstallation will put the correct drivers on your drive.

I've never done a OS X install, however it can't be harder than a Windows install right? I've reinstalled Windows so many times, I can't imagine OS X would be harder or even all that different for that matter

Basically, just follow the instructions?

I've installed MS DOS, Windows 3.1, 3.11, Win95, Win98, Win2000 and Win XP.

OS X is the easiest operating system to install in all the above. It is a doddle.

It's truly as he says above - just follow the instructions.
