Can somebody tell me whether or not keywords like "Finder" are translated when using the greek language in mac os x?

I can tell you that in French (the North American French, at least) it is still Finder.

But Greek does use a different script/alphabet, so not too sure if it would still be Finder.

Actually I think greek is the only language that Apple doesn't really support very well: It seems as if the greek localization needs to be purchased at additional cost. The sites have more info and a free alternative.

In german at least 'Finder' is always called finder, but some of the descriptive app names have been changed (Keychain becomes Schlüsselbund, Activity Monitor becomes Aktivitätsanzeige etc.)

You could email a friend of mine who is Greek and a Greek Mac Head/Evangilist at that!

He is known in some Mac forums as hulkaros and here is his website: AppleSeed. It's his Mac store he has in Greece and on it you will find a link to email him. I already referred another member here for help with making the Greek language work on his Mac.

Good luck! And send him my best regards! :girl:

"Finder" is a specific term/application/component to the operating system. Therefore, it shouldn't be translated in any other language. Changing the name would cause confusion and give a new meaning to a core part of the OS. The 'Finder' is a unique part of the Mac OS. There really woulnd't be any other way to effectively call it something different, and not lose the meaning or definition of the component.
Folders like 'Documents', 'Applications', 'Pictures', etc. are translated because those are not actual parts of the OS. Other things like the examples Aptmunich pointed out, can easily be translated verbatim, since they are more or less common parts of any OS.
