Transfer iPod files to formerly crashed Macbook

My Macbook Pro crashed a while back and I'm trying to transfer my iPod music files back to my Macbook. I copied the hidden iPod files to my desktop and tried adding them to iTunes, but none of the hidden files could be located in iTunes. They're visible in Finder, but not iTunes. Any ideas?
