I am unable to quit a particular application from the dock by right-clicking the icon and selecting "quit". The application remains active, and the blue light below the application's icon remains lit. Any suggestions? thanks! Kevin

If you push Command-Option-Esc, you will see the "Force Quit" dialog. Use that to quit the application.

What app is it?

If you are talking about Finder: This one is always running and cannot be quit. You can however 'relaunch' finder using what vansmith describes above.

Was this a one time occurrence? If so, the force quit suggestion is spot on.

Does it happen every time you use the application? If so, there may be an incompatibility. Check to see if there is an update available.
