Spam folder disappeared

It is gone. I like to check it daily because sometimes important things end up in it but it has completely disappeared. I have shut down and restarted but nada.

I can't find any posts here about it and I can't find anything which pertains when Googling. Ideas sure appreciated! I am using the standard Mail app which comes with the Mac.

I believe some folders are now "dynamic" - i.e. they disappear from the list, when there's nothing in them, Drafts certainly follow this pattern, however I do see Junk folder in my Mail app, even though it is empty at the moment.

And, of course, they are all "smart" folders, as in containing a number of actual folders for different accounts (if you have more than one).
