I've been having nothing but trouble with my new iMac. Two trips to the Genius Bar have been inconclusive, but the third party RAM I installed myself seems to be the chief suspect. I have put the original 4GB Apple RAM back in and I'll see how it goes. In the mean time, I'm looking for recommendations as to what brand you folks out there reliably use. The Apple Store wants US$349.00 to install 8GB!!!!

Thanks,
Bill

I bought it a couple of months back and I can't find the paperwork, but it's some brand I never heard of. I bought it up at the local Tiger Direct store.

Personally I like Crucial. It's the best RAM I've ever used and you can get two sticks of 4GB for $50.

MBP 15" I7 first one and loving it.
I use Crucial as well. Have 8gigs coming in today. There is an app called rember.app that is free that you can download. You can use it to check you memory. I test my old before I take it out and the new when I put it in.
