Moving a File from Desktop to Thumb drive

How can i move a file from the desktop to my thumb drive without copying it, i dont have enough space on my computer to copy them. they are both movie files and i cant move them anywhere without copying them.

just open finder and drag it across ;D

M2 Max Studio Extra, 32GB memory, 4TB, Sonoma 14.4 Apple 5K Retina Studio Monitor
Cmd + Click always moves. Option + Click, copies. Cmd + Option + Click creates an alias (shortcut in Windows terminology).

As I understand it, just dragging from Finder to an external source such as a USB stick, copies rather than moves.
