I've seen it done, I just don't remember HOW it was done. My iMac G4 crashed (a bluish-grey screen staring at me) and none of the safe-mode or other key combinations upon starting it have worked. All I get are the aforementioned screen and some clicking noises. I've seen someone connect a working Mac to a crashed one and pull it up as a hard drive on the working Mac's desktop. How do I do this?

I believe what you're looking for is Target Disk Mode. Apple has an article about this.

Thanks, Jeff. That's just what I was looking for, and none of my searches on the Apple support site yielded that result.
