Office 2011 for Mac will definitely work.

Office works perfectly fine on 10.9.2 if you use a supported version (2011 and probably 2008). What version do you have?

I have Office 2008 and it runs perfectly on Mavericks. (Well, I hesitate to use the word "perfectly" with anything Microsoft-related. :) )

Microsoft Works was a very different program, and I assume you were talking about Microsoft Office.

Makes you wonder why they changed the name, eh? ;)

(They could have just added "sometimes".)
