So just got the iMac... SWEET it is.

I was just curious if a 3.5 inch disc will go into the Superdrive or will it just get stuck. I don't really want to try it and then get it stuck.

That would just suck.

So if anyone has either tried it or knows if it will work, either respond on this or hit me with a PM.

Thanks

...

By 3.5 inch disc, I'm going to assume you mean a floppy disk.

If so, no. No it won't.

Standard size/shape CDs/DVDs only.

Stranger things have happened than someone shoving a floppy into an optical drive. (Saw the exact opposite back in middle school. CD-ROM in a 5.25" Floppy Drive).

AAAAAnyway, no, it'll just get stuck. It's not designed like the Wii that can take the mini discs. You have to use full size DVDs.

No, do not use the small DVDs in the superdrive. It has been well documented that they do not work and will get stuck.

Can't he glue on the disc to an normal CD/DVD?

Thanks guys.

Good idea Billy, but I would rather not go and cut holes and glue... Doesn't sound too easy...

I HAVE GOT IT!!!

I think

All you need is an external DVD drive which wont be sideways because your built in iMac drive is sideways.

UNLESS you can plug your camera cored in to the mac:D :D :D

It is not going to work. Most slot loading drives will not load the size you are refering to. You need to get an external tray loading drive or you need to copy it to a full sized DVD. Don't listen to the people telling you to cut up DVDs or tape or glue things. They are just going to break your mac.

LOL! I can see what you're getting at...
So, I reckon we're all pretty clued up that the 3.5" hard disc WONT work in the CD/DVD drive. What's the solution as far as products go? Someone suggested a remote CD/DVD reader. Cool; brands? models? Has anyone actually purchased and used just such a thing?

Well, it spelled disk when the media is square shaped and disc when the media is round shaped. :)
