Changing image files of applications

hey guys,

does anybody know how to edit a picture in a application package? I've been trying to do that, but after saving the edited picture under the same name, the program crashes

Im not sure if it actually works somehow, but help would be greatly appreachiated.

i edited it and saved it in the same formal, but then the app crashes..
