Indexed hard Drive won't let me open files, please help!

hey,

I noticed that spotlight had started to index my external HD. It took hours but I just let it run. Now Finder takes forever to build image previews and most of the files (mostly image files) won't open...

Does anyone have a clue what's happened?

Indexing an external hard drive can actually slow down access to it. I never allow Spotlight to index an external hard drive or a flash drive. As a matter of fact, I have indexing turned off even for my internal drive.

Try copying all your image files over again to the external hard drive if possible and turn Spotlight indexing off.
