Problem Printing to an HP 4550 Colour Laser

Ok I know this has probably been answered 1000s of times but I can't find the answer I need so here I go!!

I've got an HP 4550 Colour Laser connected to an XP Machine and its shared across my network.

I can print quite happily to the HP from my MacBook Pro from programs like Excel or Word but everytime I try to print from Photoshop, which is where I really need it to work, all the printer does is receive the data and then just sits there and doesn't print it!!

I have downloaded the correct print driver from HP web site and hopefully installed it correctly so not too sure what to do next.

I have full access to all the printers settings from photoshop but it just won't let me print anything.

Any thoughts??

First thought is that the printer may not be a postscript printer as Photoshop prints as postscript. Never done what you are doing. Look for Bonjour or Gimp solutions to printing to it, if it is even possible.

Last week Apple brought out update v.1.1.1 for HP printers. Go to the link and see if your printer is listed, which it is, before downloading. It is 405MB so trust you are on pretty fast broadband:-
