I always hear on these forums that Internet Explorer on both mac and windows is crap. I use it right now on windows and it's fine for me. I've tried other browsers, but im comfortable with IE. So yeah, what wrong with it and why do you hate it!!!

I don't hate it, but I'd rather not use it. IE was my main browser until Apple gave us Safari. IE is remarkably slower than Safari. Give Safari a try, you might just switch.

The only reason I keep IE around is to use it at sites that aren't Safari "friendly."

No tabbed browsing.

Exactly! i don't hate IE either, but after getting used to the tabbed browsing in Safari, I don't want to go back to IE.

How can it be faster??? Can't Microsoft just copy it or something?? But still, you think that if every other browser has tabbed browsing, they could kind of GET THE POINT !!! Anywho... anyother reasons?

Its called fanboyism. Biased Mac users (about 85 - 90% of this forum) insist that it sucks because its not made by Apple. These people often have no life at all. They sit at home typing "YOUR PC SUX YOU NEED A MAC!" and "OS X IS SO SEXY" and "THE IPOD IS SUPERIOR TO THE GMINI'S AND THE KARMAS!" on PC message boards. They often tell people to spend thousands of dollars to buy a Mac, instead of the hundreds to buy a PC. They don't realize what crap their systems are. They don't realize that they are missing out on Doom 3 and all these games and software. And they don't realize that the Apple mouse is just a one-buttoned piece of crap.

Need I say more?

microsoft stopped developing IE for mac so what you have now is the most updated it will be. The browser windows for safari look better in my opinion and I am a big tabbed browser fan

Just my personal reasons, on a PC of course since I've been using Safari on the iBook.

ActiveX, popups, constant crashing, lack of tabs, lack of skins, it's not that fast (FireFox anyone?),....

1. IE Crashes ocassionally (I run it on a PC but firefox has replaced it
2. IE has no tabbed browsing
3. IE has security flaws, spyware etc...

These 3 reasons are enough for me to use firefox, which I also prefer over Safari.

How is IE insecure? Does it just not know what files are viruses/ spyware, whereas other browsers do? I dont get it...

IE doesn't pose any security threat on a Mac. There is just no reason to use it IMO

Well, if you need it for a banking site or IE only site, you really don't have a choice. And Safari doesn't run on 10.2.5 or below, I believe. IE is bundled with those OSes as the default browser.

On the Mac, I mainly use Safari, as it happens very rarely to me that a website doesn't work with it. Even my banking site works fine, allthough I have to admit that it didn't until the last Java update from Apple. IE on Mac definitely is crap, because it is old and didn't get any development since years.

On the PC, I use Mozilla or Firefox, because of IE's security flaws, no tabbed browsing and I just simply don't like the fact that Microsoft integrated it in the OS so much that you can't use Windows without IE. On the Mac, I can throw away Safari whenever I want, and it will not affect my system. I just don't like the way MS forces people to do things, without being an Apple fanboy.
