I have a MacBookPro that I bought in 2009. I'm running OSX 10.6.8. The screen seems to be getting dimmer, although I have the F6 button cranked up the maximum. I compared it to an Ibook G4 about 10 years old, and the MacBook Pro was significantly dimmer. Is this a problem that can be fixed?

It depends. If the screen dimming is due to a software problem (unlikely) then it can probably be corrected. However, if it's the LCD display or very likely the backlight that's failing, then no. You would need to replace the display. Apple does not replace the backlight on any model (whether LED or tube), instead they replace the entire display unit.
