Weird slow Macbook problem

My main profile for my macbook is really slow. When I try to play a video it constantly stops and the rainbow wheel spins. The weird thing is that I decided to make a second profile on the computer and it is perfectly fine. I have resorted to using the other profile but would really like the main one back...
Maybe there is a really easy solution I'm over looking.
Please help.
