please help!

hi i've recently bought a new black macbook running os 10.4.11. I have a behringer fca202 audio interface and a midiman oxygen 8 controler and i just can't get either of them to work! the behringer is connected using a firewire cable but the mac doesn't detect it at all! and i'm using a usb cable to connect the oxygen 8 and also the mac book doesn't detect it. I read on the internet somewhere that it's a problem with the os and that a lot of people are having problem's when they connect audio interfaces, but i can't find a solution anywhere! can someone please help me! p.s. i've posted this in both the music and os forums because im not sure which would be more relevant, im sorry if this is wrong.. thank you
