boot from the system cd or dvd. Or if you have two macs w/ firewire, use firewire target disk mode. external will work if you have mac os on it already
Just moved and my old G4 tower won't start up. I want to access my hard drives, but what is the best way to do this?
I was thinking I could buy an ext. hard drive case and do it that way?
any ideas or suggestions?
If you're sure it's the power supply that's gone, rather than a dead hard drive, then pull the HD out. You could put it in an enclosure for backup of or storage from whatever computer you're going to graduate.
I suggest you invest about US$20 in an ATA/SATA-USB adaptor meantime. You can hook the old 'bare' drive to your replacement computer and transfer all the stuff you want.
