file compression

I need to compress a 25 mg file (raw file photo) so that I can email it. the compressed file should be less than 5 mg.

Maye under iPhoto, select the pics then do an export. It should have settings for what you want to do and also compression.

Or in iPhoto under 'Share' then 'Email' it has setting for compress of medium, high, etc. and estimated size of each pic after compression.

You're going to be hard pressed to get a 25MB file down to 5MB even with the best forms of compression without data loss. The easiest thing to try would be to zip it. Right-click the file and click 'Compress <filename>'. Zip is pretty efficient, but I doubt it will bring it even close to 5MB.
