Transfering My Library To An iPhone 3G

Just wondering if someone can give me the right advice, in the morning I am getting an iPhone 3G for my work phone.

So will all the apps I have in my library on iTunes be useless. Meaning that i'll have to download them all again also the same applies to any videos, music and photos I have on the library.

No, why would they? You just simply sync your library to your 3G phone and there you go.
