Wireless dropped connection issue

Hey guys. I'm having a really bad problem with the wireless on my macbook. I'm running Leopard on the latest model macbook before the unibody models. Anyway, the wireless will work for a few minutes at best, and then just cut out. The wireless "fan" still shows that I'm connected, but nothing is happening. I even get the "cannot connect to host" webpage. After I turn off the wireless, and turn it back on, everything works for a very short amount of time (sometimes not even a minute), and then does the same thing again.

As a matter of fact, I had to reset the wireless just to make this post. Please help, this is driving me crazy.

Have you tried changing the channel on the Base Station? Also check to make sure your firmware is up to date. Finally, when your connection "dies", open terminal and try to ping the IP address of the base station.

Are there any other routers close to you that are using the same Wireless SSID?

I think I may have fixed it. I just changed the type of wireless signal from BG-mixed to G only. Since then it hasn't messed up (yet). Hopefully it will stay that way. Is this the best option for me to use?

It's fine provided that you don't need to connect any 802.11b devices.

You do have security turned on, right? It almost sounds like someone else is joining your network and playing with you.

Yep, security is definitely on. With a password that there is no way someone could guess. I'm positive that's not the issue. Is there a different setting i should use on the router?

how did you do this? i am having a similar problem.

Switching that over actually did not fix the problem. What I ended up doing was just completely resetting the router (holding in the reset button). Then changing all of the settings back to the way they were originally on the router, with a new SSID and password. Now everything is working perfectly.
