Which SSD upgrade for Mac Pro 2009? 6.0/gbps possible?

I am looking to upgrade my HDD to a SSD in my 2009 Mac Pro. I know OWC's stuff is highly recommended but with that comes a premium. And is it possible to upgrade to a 6.0 gbps setup vs the standard 3.0? I have seen that OWC also makes a PCIe setup that is blazing fast but I did know if there was more options out there. Thanks guys

If so the Mac Pro comes with 3GB/s SATA II. You will be able to install a 6GB/s SSD like an OWC Mercury Electra but you will only get the 3GB;s speed.

Yes this is for a Mac Pro (2009). I just haven't updated my avatar or sig. The computer has just been sitting my my office since I haven't had time to set it up. But before I do I wanted to upgrade the boot drive with an SSD and then throw ML on there so I don't have to do it again later.

So basically it is pointless to spend the extra money on the OWC Mercury Electra drive since I can't take advantage of the 6.0gb speed? Is there no way to upgrade it from 3.0 to 6.0 or is my only other option the PCIe SSD?

No what you got is what you got. Some have tried using a PCI-E card with 6GBand an external drive but I don't think that is what you want at all.

Not entirely. You could do it as a future-proofing strategy. The idea being that you by the 6g version one now, and when you upgrade your machine at some point in the future, it can make full use of it - thus saving you from having to replace (or supplement it) with a 6g one later.

Ok I just did a search for the Mac Pro 2009 since I am looking at getting one and didn't notice this post was from 2012, sorry. My advice is solid but probably already known since it was 3 years ago.
