I made myself a very secure administrator password, which I now cannot remember.

I understand that to reset my admin password I need to use my Mac OS installation disk and reboot using that.

My question: Will I lose the contents of my hard drive by doing this, such as all my photos, videos, downloads, etc?

You will only loose access to your keychain. AS long as you are happy to start with a fresh keychain for other passwords, then a password reset will be fine

That is the problem with these very secure passwords - remembering them!

As louishen says just change the the password. You will lose no information from the drive. Is there any special reason you felt the need for a very secure password?
