This is a new feature found on some DVD's. They allow a copy to be made on your computer for transfer to an iPod, Zune, playing on your Apple TV, etc.

Note, the digital copies they allow are not even up to DVD resolutions of 480p. So, it still does nothing for anyone wanting to move their DVD collection to a central storage for TV playback unless you enjoy the loss in resolution.
